AGENDA - SAWAC meeting of June 25th
(Preliminary)

Notes & comments

The program will start at 11AM
Please bring a Picnic lunch or use the facilities at the 'Cascades" Tea room / restaurant at the venue (Nelspruit Botanical Garden)
Our environment, the 'water crisis", the impact of the plantation industry and "sustainable land use" will be discussed. Please view the revised guest list.
Thank you Lael Bethlehem (Director, "Forestry" DWAF) , for  becoming involved in this discussion. May I say I know it is difficult to obtain a planting permit but I believe it should be impossible. I believe the cost for destruction of our natural environment is too high to justify the "benefits" obtained by futher "afforestation".  I also do believe that is wrong to create the impression that plantations are forests.
I want to state clearly that I am not "against' the plantation industry. What's done is done, it can not be undone. I am against futher expansion of mono culture tree plantations into our very precious, and very rare, remaining grassland.
This movement is not funded, and the work involved is done voluntary. My sincere thanks to all involved.
